Overview

Secondary Art Teacher. Part-time position (approx. 0.3 to 0.4 FTE) at Chairo Christian School, commencing January 2026 for Senior School (Years 9 to 12) at the Pakenham campus.

About the School

Chairo Christian School is a non-denominational Christian school with 1,900 Kinder to Year 12 students attending five campuses in West and South Gippsland, the Latrobe Valley and the south-eastern outskirts of Melbourne. Our mission is to provide excellence in Christ-centred education in partnership with families within a caring Christian community, preparing students for further study, careers, service and life in general.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver the curriculum in a manner consistent with the guidelines and policies set by the school board and leadership team, from a Christian worldview perspective.
  • Foster a safe and caring environment for all students and model the love of Jesus Christ.
  • Maintain a learning environment where students are encouraged to have positive attitudes toward learning and where challenging and achievable expectations are set.
  • Effectively assess student performance and provide feedback in an encouraging and confidence-building manner.
  • Plan and carry out daily activities to fulfil the objectives of the school's educational policies and mission statement.
  • Build relationships with students and parents to establish a partnering approach to learning.
Qualifications and Characteristics
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in education and registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the school's Statement of Faith.
  • Experience teaching Art at senior secondary level.
  • Sound knowledge of teaching from a Christian worldview perspective.
  • Ability to utilise a range of teaching strategies as may be relevant.
  • Ability to build strong partnering relationships and communication channels with students and parents.
