Senior Fixed Telecommunications Engineer

We design, construct, commission, and maintain critical infrastructure across various sectors including road, rail, building, power, water, and renewable energy. Our engineering team has the capability to design all mechanical and electrical equipment necessary for large-scale projects.

This in-house engineering capability allows us to approach projects from start to finish, positioning us well to grow and enter new markets.

About the role

  • Achieve project objectives as directed by line manager, including the production of Project Documentation (Design Reports, Drawings, Programs, Calculations, Bills of materials, Quality Plans, Project Document Management Plans, etc).
  • Monitor and control design costs within budget and communicate changes to management.
  • Ensure design coordination between team members and plan reviews, verifications, and validations.
  • Provide mentoring to graduate engineers and design engineers where required.
  • Comply with company policies, laws, regulations, and standards for a safe workplace.
  • Undertake ad-hoc projects, initiatives, tasks as directed by the Line Manager.

Technical Requirements:

  • Experience in designing fixed communication networks, structured cabling, fibre optic cabling, and related infrastructure.
  • Data rack and comms cabinet design and layout expertise, including single-line diagrams and schematics per AU standards/state government standards.
  • Practical experience with Layer 2 & 3 Cisco configuration and fault-finding, Cisco IOS Firmware Installation & Update. Cisco CCNA/CCNP Certification preferred (minimum Cisco ICND 1/2).
  • Familiarity with Queensland Rail and Australian Telecommunications equipment (including AS/CA S009).

About You

  • RPEQ preferred or ability and willingness to become RPEQ asap.
  • Bachelor's degree qualification in engineering (or equivalent industry experience in the absence of a degree).
  • At least 7 years of experience in infrastructure, technology, rail, or related industries.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritise demands, handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously, set deadlines, and follow-through in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills (oral & written), negotiation, and influencing skills, with the ability to establish effective working relationships.
  • Demonstrating respect and integrity as an individual and a team player.
  • Ability and willingness to adapt quickly to new skills and knowledge brought about by changing structure, process, information, and/or technology.
