Your role as a Machine Learning (ML) Engineer will be to focus on productionizing Machine Learning (ML) and large language model (LLM) features. You will help build the ML/AI ecosystem from scratch, integrating the latest capabilities to enhance customer experiences and transform business operations. This role involves establishing robust engineering standards, simplifying complexities, and designing effective controls and guardrails. As an ML Engineer, you'll be contributing to the design and implementation of large-scale enterprise solutions while engaging other team members on modern best practices.

The ML Engineer reports to the ML Engineer Chapter Lead and is allocated to the AI Platforms team and ensure efficient delivery of outcomes, aligning with our North Star of being Australia's leading digital insurer.

You will also be responsible for the following:

• Design and implement scalable ML/AI solutions into production in collaboration with Architects, ML Engineers, Data Scientists, Business Analysts, and business partners, including risk, legal, and security teams.
• Develop automated MLOps/DevOps processes for continuous model training and evaluation pipelines, specifically for ML/LLM applications.
• Ensure the seamless integration of Zurich's current architecture with newly added ML/LLM functionalities, enhancing overall system capabilities.
• Foster a culture of quality coding practices, including test-driven development, unit testing, and secure coding awareness.
• Maintain an agile development mindset, appreciating the benefit of constant iteration and improvement.

• Willingness to go beyond the comfort zone to try various experiments; demonstrate fail fast, learn, and improve attitude.
• Focus on business practicality and the 80/20 rule, aiming for a high bar for code quality while recognizing the business benefit of "having something now" versus "perfection sometime in the future."

Important to your success - Unlock your potential

In order to be successful, you will have the following:

• Hands-on MLOps/DevOps Engineering experience (Proficiency in Python, SQL, etc.).
• Proficiency in AWS Cloud Solution Development, Security, and Infrastructure as Code (IaaC), preferably AWS CDK.
• Experience in Machine Learning, including the productization of LLM Models and Prompt Engineering (Familiarity with RAG architectures is preferable).
• Experience with containerization and Ci/CD principles for automation and deployment.
• Strong background in ML concepts and applications, and knowledge of MLOps best practices.
• Growth mindset and DevSecOps thinking, including secure coding practices.
• Familiarity with system integration, APIs, etc.
• Experience working within financial services and/ or insurance (preferred)
• Experience working in an Agile environment
