About The Role

Reporting to the Program Leader – Counselling, the Lecturer is responsible for contributing to the delivery of the counselling higher education courses, and development, teaching and assessment of subjects in the counselling higher education courses.

  • This is a permanent, full-time position—not a casual or sessional contract. With six months' probation leading to ongoing employment, it offers the stability to support long-term goals like home ownership or career planning.
  • It's an ideal role for new academics/academics or pracademics seeking to transition from sessional teaching or professional practice into a stable academic pathway with long-term career prospects.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Assessment Responsibilities:
  • Develop and deliver lectures, tutorials, and study materials.
  • Provide academic support and encourage student engagement.
  • Marking student assessments in accord with assessment and moderation policies.

Subject Development, Evaluation, And Review
  • Ensure subject delivery aligns with approved outlines and accreditation standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in teaching, learning materials, and assessments.
  • Provide feedback regarding subject content, teaching and assessments as required as part of the course evaluation and review process, and the subject evaluation and review process.

About You
  • A postgraduate qualification (Master's or PhD) in Counselling, Human Services, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in higher education teaching and/or extensive industry experience within Counselling, Human Services or a related discipline.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills to engage students, staff, and industry partners.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain placement partnerships and integrate work-based learning.
  • Contribute to subject development and course improvements that shape future counsellors
