The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Senior Clinical Advisor to provide a critical role within the Service Delivery and Practice, Service Development team.

About the Business Unit

As a division of Corrections Victoria, Forensic Intervention Services is a specialist program area that provides people in custody and in the community with evidence-based screening, assessment, and offence-specific intervention services to support their rehabilitation. In doing so, Forensic Intervention Services is a critical component of the department's strategy to reduce reoffending and contribute to community safety.

About the Role

The Senior Clinical Advisor is responsible for providing authoritative advice on complex clinical and operational issues relating to delivery of offending behaviour interventions across Victoria, and working collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders, including clinical staff across the State, to develop and embed ongoing process and quality improvements in clinical service delivery.

As a Senior Clinical Advisor, some of your duties will include:

  • Undertaking analysis and providing authoritative advice on complex clinical and operational issues relating to the delivery of offending behaviour interventions across Victoria.
  • Planning and managing a range of projects to support the effective and consistent delivery of clinical services across the State, including ongoing service and quality improvements.
  • Establishing and maintaining collaborative, constructive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to maintain an understanding of current clinical and operational issues impacting on clinical service delivery, and to support the development and implementation of initiatives to improve service delivery.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in the planning of programs and services for people in custody and in the community.
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience in assessment and use of psychometric tools.
  • Demonstrated understanding and awareness of the key issues impacting Corrections Victoria, particularly within the area of interventions for people in custody and in the community.
  • Demonstrated understanding of relevant frameworks for offending behaviour rehabilitation.

Qualifications/requirements

  • Registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA); or
  • Membership of the Australian Association of Social Work; or
  • Credentialed as Mental Health Nurses with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses; or
  • Registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
  • AHPRA approved supervisor, or equivalent; or
  • A minimum of 2 years of being a practicing supervisor.
  • Specialist training and/or postgraduate qualifications in a clinical or forensic field would be highly regarded.
