The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Section Executive, Water Treatment, our client-focused Team Manager, NSW will be responsible for the day-to-day management of our growing NSW Water Treatment team. In this leadership role, you will manage a variety of strategic and operational functions and interact with clients and potential clients to nurture WSP's future pipeline of work.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Team Management: Oversee the commercial and financial performance of the team, ensuring team utilisation and project governance align with strategic goals.
  2. Business Development: Lead business development efforts, positioning the team for success, and preparing tenders for new opportunities in the water sector.
  3. Client Engagement: Build strong relationships with clients and potential clients, contributing to WSP's future pipeline.
  4. Project Delivery: Be responsible for delivery of treatment projects and maintain 20-50% billability on project work while balancing leadership responsibilities.
  5. Staff Development: Support the well-being and professional development of your direct reports, fostering a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
  6. Strategic Leadership: Translate strategic plans into actionable initiatives, ensuring performance aligns with the team's goals and driving growth.
  7. Industry Leadership: Actively participate in shaping the future of the industry through committees, industry bodies, and publications.

This is a strategically important role for WSP's growth, and we are looking for a leader who can foster a thriving team environment. To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  1. Experience: Typically 15+ years in the water sector, with significant experience in Australia, strong team management and business development experience.
  2. Market Knowledge: Well-connected within the NSW water market, with a track record of winning work and delivering water and wastewater treatment projects in the sector.
  3. Technical Expertise: Strong technical competence across a wide spectrum of water and/or wastewater treatment/process disciplines. Experience in project and/or design management in water, recycled water, sewerage treatment and/or desalination infrastructure will be key to this role.
  4. Client Management: A strong track record of managing client relationships and solving project-related issues.
  5. Commercial Acumen: Experience managing the commercial aspects of projects in a consulting environment and high level of understanding of risks.
  6. Strategic Vision: Proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans for team growth and business development.
  7. Change Management: Experience in leading and managing change to drive continuous improvement.
