The Administrative Review Tribunal (ART) is currently seeking applications for two APS6 Team Leaders, First Nations Liaison Officers, to join the User Experience and Accessibility team to play a key role in driving the Tribunal's commitment to support and advocate for cultural capability within First Nations communities.

These hybrid positions can be located in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Hobart, Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and are non-ongoing for a period of 12 months with the possibility of extension.

Remuneration: The annual salary for the position is APS6 $90,199 to $102,499 p.a., plus a generous employer superannuation contribution of 15.4%.

About the opportunity:

Reporting to the Assistant Director - First Nations Liaison, the Team Leader, First Nations Liaison Officer will play a crucial role in driving the Tribunal's commitment to improving outcomes and service delivery for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants, people, and the community.

As the Team Leader, you will be committed to leading the national engagement and liaison responsibility which contributes to the Tribunal's overall cultural capability, cultural safety, and our approach to closing the gap and reconciliation plan.

About you:

You will have the ability to work with a range of stakeholders, communities, and individuals and be able to communicate sensitively and effectively with First Nations people.

To be successful you will:

  • Have highly developed cultural competency and a deep understanding of the issues affecting First Nations peoples and communities.
  • Have a proven ability to build community engagement and manage relationships in a culturally diverse environment, communicating issues sensitively and effectively to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Possess excellent organisational, project management, and planning skills, and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple competing priorities at once in tight timeframes.
  • Demonstrated well-developed leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills and a strong sense of self-awareness, working to foster respect, inclusion, and cultural and psychosocial safety in the workplace.
  • Have strong initiative, a solutions-focused approach and demonstrated innovation and agility to achieve results and provide quality and timely advice.

Qualifications/Experience

Mandatory:

  • This is an identified position for an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 14(d) of the Anti-discrimination Act 1997.

Desirable:

  • Demonstrated understanding of and/or experience in liaising with First Nations Peoples.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in working on programs and projects relevant to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and communities.
