Senior Legal Counsel Role Summary

This is a senior legal counsel role that requires providing expert legal advice across a broad spectrum of commercial matters.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Contract Management: Draft, review and negotiate a diverse range of commercial contracts, including supplier agreements, leases, IT, IP, privacy, competition law, consumer law and corporate law.
  2. Strategic Growth Advice: Provide legal advice on strategic growth opportunities, corporate governance and regulatory change projects.
  3. Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and interpret legislative changes to ensure the organisation remains compliant with evolving legal requirements.
  4. Marketing and Communications Review: Review marketing materials, business communications and corporate collateral from a legal perspective.
  5. Contract Templates and Policies: Develop and maintain pro-forma contract templates and legal policies to streamline business operations.
  6. Risk Management: Oversee an effective contract management framework to mitigate risk.
  7. Regulatory Interactions: Manage legal aspects of regulatory matters, including interactions with external counsel and regulatory bodies.
Requirements:
  1. At least 7 years of post-qualification experience as a commercial/corporate lawyer in private practice or an in-house environment.
  2. Proven ability to understand and interpret legislation, particularly exposure to competition and consumer law, Privacy Act, IP, WHS and Corporate law.
  3. Exceptional legal drafting and negotiation skills.
  4. Ability to think strategically and deliver commercial legal solutions in a fast-paced environment.
  5. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the business.
