This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced kitchenhands who are enthusiastic about children's health and nutrition to receive on-the-job training in a high-quality Montessori learning environment.

We're looking for a dedicated kitchenhand who is willing to learn, enjoys working in a team, and is committed to delivering nutritious meals for children in our care.

Key Requirements:

  • Current Working with Children Check
  • First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • Interest in pursuing a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care
  • Availability for shifts between 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM (Monday to Friday)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Understanding of the National Quality Framework (NQF) and National Quality Standard (NQS)
  • Willingness to learn about the Montessori philosophy
  • Strong commitment to supporting children's development through nutritious meals

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, and late snacks
  • Follow food safety guidelines for children with allergies/anaphylaxis
  • Safely handle and prepare food, including cutting meats and plating meals
  • Maintain hygienic kitchen practices – dishwashing, cleaning kitchen areas, and common spaces
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations
  • Work closely with educators to support children's nutritional needs
  • Positively represent the Montessori Academy philosophy to families and the wider community
  • Attend team meetings and become familiar with company policies and procedures
