Lead Data Modeler Opportunity

  • Length of contract: 12 months with a 12-month extension option
  • Available work locations: ACT (Hybrid working arrangements available)
  • Security clearance requirements: Must be able to obtain Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1)
  • Key technical skills: Data modelling using metadata/model-driven frameworks, SQL expertise, and experience with tools such as MS SQL, Teradata, Snowflake, Redshift, or Databricks

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Data Modeller to join a dynamic team delivering enterprise data modelling activities. This role is pivotal in shaping data solutions that drive informed decision-making and support key organisational objectives. You will lead data modelling initiatives, collaborate with stakeholders, and contribute to the development of consumable reports and analytics.

Your duties will include:

  • Leading the development of conceptual, logical, and physical data models for core and access layers
  • Establishing peer review and data modelling release standards
  • Designing and delivering data dictionaries and defining best practices for data modelling
  • Collaborating with business areas to develop and implement analytics addressing key risks and trends
  • Developing and maintaining SQL analytical and ETL code
  • Facilitating continuous improvement in delivery principles, coding standards, and documentation

Skills and Experience we are looking for:

  • Strong experience in data modelling using metadata/model-driven frameworks
  • Proficiency in at least two of the following: MS SQL, Teradata, Snowflake, Redshift, or Databricks
  • High-level programming skills, including Python, SAS, R, or Java
  • Knowledge of DevOps processes and tools
  • Expertise in SQL, including reverse-engineering end-user SQL code
  • Familiarity with cloud environments such as AWS and tools like AWS S3 and AWS Glue (desirable)
