Vipac Engineers & Scientists Ltd is seeking to employ an experienced engineer (or technician) to work in a team of consultants specialising in industrial vibration applications, machine reliability, structural dynamics and structural design. The position is based in Spring Hill, Brisbane, Queensland. VIPAC is a multi-disciplinary, nationwide engineering consultancy that provides vibration, acoustics, and many other services. We provide for building, infrastructure, oil and gas, industrial, defence, mining and commercial clients.

Our scope of services covers rotating and reciprocating machinery, turbo machinery and a range of structural and fluid-induced vibrations. The roles would suit those dedicated to vibration analysis and or machine reliability who have worked in the industry with 5 to 15 years of experience, some of which can be specialised academic training.

Remuneration will be better than industry standards and commensurate with experience. Professional development is encouraged.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain client relationships.
• Provide engineering dynamics and machine reliability consulting services to clients.
• Supervise and mentor junior staff.
• Perform site measurement and analysis of structural vibration problems to provide root cause analysis, recommendations, and stress analysis or design services.
• Implement, manage and improve condition monitoring systems (vibration, thermography, lubrication) for rotating equipment with clients in oil & gas, defence, power and mining industries.
• Identify improvements within internal workflows, and in client's reliability systems.

Skills / Qualifications

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering (post-graduate degree highly regarded).
• 5 to 15 years of practical experience with rotating equipment, structural vibration, and/or other dynamics application. Academic research in similar fields will be considered (vibration, stress analysis, pulsation).
• Ability to develop technical calculations from codes or first principles including an in depth knowledge of relevant codes and standards.
• On site experience in industrial, oil & gas or mining applications, including a strong focus on safety.
• Excellent communication skills with high level English literacy, report writing skills and computer proficiency.
• Experience in writing technical proposals and quotations for ongoing and specialist work.
• Design and analysis experience using FEA packages, MATLAB, PULSIM, and others.
• Familiarity with proprietary measurement and analysis systems.
• Experience in project engineering roles or client facing roles.
