Senior Engineer - Generator Performance Standards

We are seeking a Senior Engineer to join our System Engineering team in WA, where you will provide engineering expertise on system transition challenges, liaise with market participants, and witness the commissioning of new renewable facilities.

About The Role
  1. Establish engineering methodologies for the Generator Performance Standards Framework used internally and in the South West Interconnected System (SWIS), including assessment and commissioning processes.
  2. Assess GPS non-compliance submissions and develop rectification plans to ensure the security, reliability, and resilience of the SWIS amidst the energy transition.
  3. Lead or contribute to changes to the Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM) Rules for the GPS Framework, coordinating with policy stakeholders to maintain the integrity of the SWIS.
  4. Implement WEM Rules changes across internal and industry processes, ensuring compliance and effective operations.
  5. Represent AEMO in discussions with Network Operators and Market Participants regarding GPS submissions and provide guidance on technical processes to support a smooth energy transition.
  6. Develop and maintain Generator Monitoring Plans and related procedures to ensure accurate and timely data collection.
  7. Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, including Network Operators and Market Participants, to foster a collaborative environment for knowledge sharing and issue resolution.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience with power system networks and operations, including electrical engineering principles related to generation and transmission systems.
  • Understanding of electrical engineering principles and experience managing generator connection processes and performance assessments.
  • Negotiation skills for resolving complex technical issues among stakeholders, ensuring mutually beneficial solutions.
  • Proficiency with power system modelling tools like DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD, and Python, to analyze and optimize system performance.
