About the Opportunity

The Release Engineer is responsible for supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of software and infrastructure releases across digital platforms. Working within Agile delivery cycles, this role ensures the successful deployment of application changes by managing environment readiness, deployment tasks, version control, and release automation.

Reporting to the Manager Release and Deployment, the Release Engineer plays a key role in enabling fast, stable, and compliant releases. The role works closely with cross-functional teams including DevOps, QA, engineering, and business stakeholders to ensure all components of the release process are executed with accuracy, reliability, and minimal disruption.

  • Release Preparation & Coordination: Assist in planning and coordinating releases across Agile sprints or program increments by ensuring all release artifacts - such as deployment packages, scripts, and documentation - are ready. Maintain the release schedule while tracking scope, changes, and dependencies.
  • Deployment Execution & Support: Execute deployments to non-production and production environments according to approved plans. Manage version control, tagging, and rollback procedures. Provide technical support during release windows and assist with post-release validation.
  • Environment Management & Readiness: Coordinate with DevOps and infrastructure teams to prepare and maintain environments across the SDLC. Assist with environment refreshes, configuration updates, and deployment testing. Identify and resolve environment-related blockers during release planning.
  • Release Automation & CI/CD Integration: Contribute to the implementation and improvement of automated deployment pipelines. Support the integration of release tasks into CI/CD workflows. Collaborate with DevOps to troubleshoot and refine deployment scripts and automation tools.
  • Governance, Compliance & Risk Management: Maintain release documentation, including checklists, deployment guides, and change records. Ensure releases adhere to governance processes, remaining auditable and compliant. Participate in release reviews and contribute to process improvements.
  • Continuous Improvement & Release Metrics: Liaise with product, QA, and engineering teams to align on release content and timing. Provide timely updates on release status, risks, and issues. Support change management and communication activities as needed.
About You

You will be committed to upholding privacy and data security requirements while proactively managing risks within your work area. With a focus on preventing and mitigating fraud and corruption, you\'ll work collaboratively to identify and report vulnerabilities, implement controls, and maintain ethical practices across the business. Your dedication to fostering a culture of integrity will be essential.

Technical Capabilities

You\'ll bring a solid foundation in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, complemented by certifications in IT Service Management or Release Management (e.g., ITIL, DevOps Foundation). Ideally, you also have training in Agile or Lean delivery frameworks, such as Agile Foundation or Scrum Master.

Qualifications and Experience
  • A tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Certification in IT Service Management or Release Management (e.g., ITIL, DevOps Foundation).
  • Experience in software release or deployment roles within an Agile delivery environment.
  • Proficiency in using CI/CD and version control tools.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Exposure to cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure) and infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • Experience in regulated or complex enterprise environments.
