The National Museum of Australia has an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional to join the Collection Engagement Business Unit. The successful candidate will provide quality training and support to Museum staff in the use and development of collection information systems. This role supports the Museum's digital preservation program by undertaking activities such as:
- File format identification and validation of files
- Reviewing and preparing digital material for ingest
- Developing, testing, and implementing digital workflows
- Supporting ongoing preservation planning activities
- Providing advice and information on digital preservation to internal stakeholders
- Developing documentation such as field guides, manuals, data entry guidelines, and training guides
- Supporting system management, including maintenance, upgrades, and testing activities
Together with the Digital Preservation Coordinator, this role will:
- Work collaboratively within the Collection Engagement team to ensure all collection systems are managed effectively and data integrity is maintained, including providing advice, support, and testing during system management or upgrade processes
- Collaborate across the Division in acquiring, producing, documenting, preserving, and providing access to the Museum's digital collections and assets
