System Development Engineer, Rollcage

Overview

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. For a network at AWS scale, our distributed services play a critical role keeping the network safe while configurations are being deployed to routers throughout the world.

As an engineer in this diverse team, you and your colleagues will work together to build software that emulate, deploy and validate changes to Amazon network devices many times a day. The software you write will ensure safety of changes at "Amazon scale". You will dive deep into Amazon's network architecture and closely work with many teams to influence Amazon's network configuration and management. You will use this knowledge to develop our software to solve challenging problems with an amazing team in a fast paced environment.

Key job responsibilities

• You will need to adopt and champion software engineering best practices, across the entire software development life cycle; including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.

• You must be able to deliver high quality code against - You will be required to communicate with users, technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements

About the team

Basic Qualifications

• Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure

• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust

• Experience with Linux/Unix

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with distributed systems at scale
