The Tasmanian Waste and Resource Recovery Board (the Board) is a statutory body which advises the Tasmanian Government on the direction for waste management, resource recovery and the circular economy, and oversee programs and investments that translate strategy into action.

The Board's work is guided by the Tasmanian Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy 2023–2026—the State's first legislated waste strategy—which sets a clear vision for Tasmania to waste less, recover more, and grow local circular industries.

An exciting opportunity now exists for an inspiring and innovative leader who is passionate about delivering positive outcomes, to lead the Tasmanian Waste and Resource Recovery Board into the future.

The Role

The role will provide strategic advice to the Board, Minister and Secretary on matters relating to Waste and Resource Recovery policy and strategies for Tasmania, as well as providing direction to the Waste and Resource Recovery Business Unit within the Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania (NRE Tas).

Functionally, you will oversee the implementation of the Tasmanian Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy, driving innovation and circular economy outcomes for Tasmania. This also involves the effective management of Board operations and the business unit.

More broadly, the role will strengthen governance, partnerships, and policy influence across government, industry and the community to deliver effective waste and resource recovery outcomes. As the CEO, you will also represent Tasmania in national forums and policy discussions.

About You

As a highly regarded leader of people, you will have a history of leading complex organisations and inspiring a sense of purpose and direction. The ability to build organisational capability and responsiveness by understanding emerging issues and being adaptable to change will be crucial to the success of this role.

As would be expected of such a role, highly developed communication and advocacy skills are essential, as is the ability to develop effective partnerships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholder groups.

The Tasmanian Waste and Resource Recovery Board and the broader business unit is on a path of growth and change of which the Chief Executive Officer will play a pivotal role. Be a part of its success.
