Overview

Part-time Pet Academy Trainer - Petbarn Campbelltown, Campbelltown, New South Wales, Australia. Petbarn is a leading pet specialty retailer with locations across Australia and New Zealand.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver dog training classes and one-on-one dog training sessions.
  • Complete onboarding that includes retail training, store procedures, and in-depth training of Pet School classes and operations.
  • Be reliable, meet high standards, and be flexible with working days and hours; able to work weekends and unsupervised.
  • Deliver training content in line with our animal welfare and ethics guidelines; participate in regular paid training sessions with senior Trainers to refresh and improve skills.
  • Be physically fit to handle dogs of all sizes; may in the future work with other species (e.g., cats, aquatic classes).
  • Occasionally lift heavy items up to 20kg (e.g., bags of dog food).
  • Collaborate with a team to grow with the business and achieve results.
Qualifications
  • Passion for animal behavior and training; positive reinforcement-based training experience or qualifications are highly regarded.
  • Commitment to the care of pets.
  • Public speaking and presentation experience.
  • High integrity, motivated, proactive, and able to handle pressure with composure.
  • Strong communication skills with clients of varying pet experience levels.
  • Ideally some retail experience in a high-volume retailer; strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Animal studies qualifications are highly regarded.
  • Commitment to ongoing learning and improvement in science-based animal training.
