Surf Life Saving SA (SLSSA) is the peak organisation for surf life saving in South Australia and is affiliated with Surf Life Saving Australia. SLSSA's vision statement is 'Zero preventable deaths in South Australian waters.' and we are fiercely focused on achieving this vision on the coast and beyond.
SLSSA is responsible for the governance, development, promotion and administration of surf life saving throughout South Australia and has the responsibility for servicing its 9,000 members and 23 clubs.
Position Scope:
The Partnerships and Events Officer is responsible for supporting the delivery of SLSSA's partnerships, sponsorships, and events, including assistance with Surf Sport carnivals and championships. This role plays a key part in activating and servicing existing sponsors and partners, supporting the development of new partnership opportunities, and planning and delivering high-quality events and activations.
Working closely with the General Manager Marketing & Partnerships, the Media & Communications Coordinator, and the SLSSA Sports team, the officer will oversee stakeholder communication, benefit and asset delivery, branding and signage, event planning and logistics, event setup and pack down, and post-event reporting.
Success in this role requires strong organisational and communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work proactively and collaboratively with internal teams, clubs, sponsors, and external stakeholders.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Partnerships and Sponsorships
Coordinate delivery of partnership and sponsorship benefits across SLSSA programs, intellectual property (IP) and events.
Developing and maintaining working relationships with SLSSA sponsors and partners.
Maintain accurate records of sponsorship deliverable tracking, contacts, and timelines.
Liaise with partners to confirm branding, signage, and promotional material requirements.
Sponsorship reporting and acquittals post-campaign or post-event.
Identify and support partnership activation opportunities at SLSSA events and programs.
Maintain sponsor signage and collateral inventory.
Coordinate gear and equipment orders in relation to partnership benefits and deliverables.
Assist in developing new sponsor proposals, event briefs and activation plans.
Support the General Manager Marketing & Partnerships with sponsor proposals, renewal documentation, and stakeholder updates.
Liaise with the Media & Communications Coordinator to ensure sponsor and partner branding is accurately reflected across digital and physical assets, and to support the development of communications material and social media promoting sponsor involvement and event activity.
Events and Activations
Assist with the planning and delivery of SLSSA events, including but not limited to:
o Brand & event activations
o Stakeholder and sponsor functions
o Awards of Excellence
Coordinate event logistics including run sheets, bump-in/out schedules, setup and pack down, venue liaison, permits, catering, invitations, seating, and equipment.
Liaise with clubs, suppliers, contractors, and volunteers as required to ensure smooth delivery.
Support marketing and communications functions in event promotions and publicity.
Contribute to post-event evaluation and continuous improvement.
Assist the Media & Communications Coordinator with preparing photo and video content from events and activations.
Surf Sport Support
Support the SLSSA Sport team with major carnivals and State Championships events, including but not limited to;
o Logistics planning and support, with venues & suppliers
o Support bump in, event area setup, pack down and bump out
o Signage and branding execution
o Sponsor activation support
Team Performance
Contribute positively to SLSSA's values and culture.
Provide support to other members of the Marketing & Communications and Sport teams as required.
Proactively engage in team planning, reporting, and project reviews.
SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND ATTRIBUTES
Experience in an events, sponsorship, partnerships, or marketing support role
Strong organisational skills and experience coordinating multiple projects simultaneously
Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
Confident written and verbal communication
High level of computer literacy including Microsoft Office
Tertiary qualifications in events, marketing, communications or a related field
Familiarity with not-for-profit or sporting organisations
Experience with sponsorship servicing, event coordination or stakeholder communications
Understanding of Surf Life Saving and its unique culture
Ability to use design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite) for basic collateral development
Ability to use digital platforms for social media publishing, website management and newsletter distribution (as required)

Hours of work:
This is a full-time position, based at Surf Central (West Beach). The nature of this role requires planned out-of-hours and weekend work in line with SLSSA events and partner commitments. Time off in lieu will be negotiated for work performed outside regular hours.
Special Requirements:
The successful applicant will be required to satisfy the requirements of a Police Check and DCSI Check and have a current driver's license.
The nature of this role requires some heavy lifting, assembling / moving and transporting equipment, being outdoors for extended periods of time during events.
