Find out more and .**Your Opportunity**Counselling is a safe and confidential collaboration that promotes mental health and wellbeing, enhances self-understanding, and supports individuals to resolve concerns. As a Senior Counsellor with Mission Australia, you will provide therapeutic psychological interventions and support clients through both one-on-one and group counselling. This is an on-site position based in Geraldton, with outreach service delivery as required.In this role, you will work primarily with children and young people (up to the age of 24) who have been affected by or are at risk of family and domestic violence, as well as families and individuals experiencing serious or traumatic circumstances. You will use your professional knowledge and independent judgement to deliver complex therapeutic supports, while also offering consultation, mentoring, and guidance to colleagues in line with Mission Australia's values.**Your Key Responsibilities*** Deliver therapeutic counselling and age-appropriate interventions to children, young people, and families impacted by family and domestic violence.* Provide intensive, person-centred case management, including risk assessments, safety planning, and regular reviews.* Facilitate group programs, psychoeducational activities, and outreach counselling in homes or safe spaces.* Offer clinical consultation, advice, and mentoring to colleagues to strengthen team capability.* Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Aboriginal services and community networks.* Complete accurate case notes, reports, data entry, and administrative tasks to support effective service delivery.* Contribute to continuous quality improvement and professional development within the service.**Requirements for Success*** Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or equivalent, with eligibility or progress toward professional registration.* Demonstrated experience (2+ years) in counselling, including working with children and young people.* Strong knowledge and application of therapeutic approaches, risk assessment, and trauma-informed practice.* Experience providing outreach and group-based interventions, including psychoeducational programs.* Ability to work autonomously, manage complex cases, and exercise professional judgement.* Strong cultural knowledge and capacity to work respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.* Well-developed communication, administrative, and relationship-building skills with resilience in navigating ambiguity and complex environments.* Full driver licence with no restrictionsBefore starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.**Your Benefits**To ensure our employees feel valued, empowered, and celebrated, we provide a range of employee benefits including:* Rewarding work – every day you know you're making a real difference* Not-for-profit salary packaging, reducing your tax (details via )* Free external, confidential counselling and access to .* Volunteering opportunities* Extra leave available including an additional public holiday, additional annual leave day on your work anniversary and the opportunity to purchase further annual leave.**Our Culture**Our innovative and inclusive culture will ensure you feel valued at Mission Australia as you help Australians in need and develop in your career.
