About the Role
As a Legal Assistant, you'll be a crucial part of our team, supporting our experienced lawyers in delivering exceptional service to our clients. Your key responsibilities will include:
- File Management & Administration: Assist lawyers with the day-to-day management and organisation of files.
- Court Document Preparation: Prepare legal correspondence, court documents, and briefs to counsel with precision and care.
- Client & Court Liaison: Co-ordinate appointments and manage diaries for both clients and court matters, ensuring timely and efficient scheduling.
- Client Interaction: Engage with clients in an empathetic and professional manner, providing top-tier support throughout their legal journey.
You'll work with a variety of platforms including our practice management system, Victoria Legal Aid ATLAS portal, and various court filing systems, all while honing your skills in a supportive, collaborative environment.
About You
We're looking for someone who is passionate about criminal law and has strong administrative experience. You should be:
- Experienced: Previous experience as a legal assistant essential (experience in criminal law is highly desirable).
- Tech-Savvy: Comfortable working with digital tools, from Microsoft 365 to legal-specific systems.
- Organised & Efficient: Highly organised, with a sharp eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
- Empathetic & Professional: Skilled in communicating effectively and professionally, especially with clients who may be dealing with sensitive legal matters.
- Independent & Collaborative: While you'll have the opportunity to work independently, being part of a team is key, and you'll thrive in a collaborative environment.
