About the client

Our client is a highly regarded public practice accounting firm in Darwin and they are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join their dynamic team. This role offers exposure to a diverse client base and the opportunity to further develop your technical expertise while working in a collaborative, supportive environment.

About the role

Reporting to Managers and Directors, you will prepare high-quality financial statements and tax returns for a wide range of entities, ensure compliance with legislative requirements, and assist clients with their accounting systems. You will also play a key role in supporting and supervising junior staff, contributing to training initiatives, and ensuring deadlines are met with accuracy and efficiency.

Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare income tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, and superannuation funds
  • Prepare financial accounts for various entities from trial balance
  • Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual Business Activity Statements
  • Supervise and review work of junior staff during assignments
  • Prepare Fringe Benefits Tax returns
  • Assist clients with management accounting using Xero, MYOB, and other platforms
  • Communicate effectively with clients to obtain required information promptly
  • Address review points from Managers and Directors in a timely manner
  • Ensure all ATO deadlines are met
  • Contribute to training sessions and present on relevant topics
  • Raise client bills and monitor WIP
About you
  • Member or near-member of CAANZ, CPA, or equivalent
  • Minimum of three years' full-time experience in a similar role
  • Broad knowledge of accounting and general financial management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced numeracy skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to meet deadlines without compromising quality
