Overview

Inverell, New South Wales — Full-time

Expressions of Interest are invited from qualified welders, fabricators and boilermakers for the position of Welder/Fabricator, based at Council's Inverell Workshop. The successful applicant will join Council's mechanical workshop team and be responsible for maintenance, repair and efficient operation of Council's fleet, and undertake light and medium structure fabrication.

Responsibilities
  • Maintenance, repair and ensuring the efficient performance of Council's fleet.
  • Light and medium structure fabrication and related mechanical workshop tasks.
Essential Qualifications
  • Trade Certificate as Metal Fabricator or Fitter/Turner with welding experience.
  • SafeWork NSW General Construction Induction card (White Card).
Skills and Experience
  • Expertise and experience in metal fabrication and welding in multiple processes:
  • MIG welding
  • Stick welding
  • TIG welding
  • Experience in the repair of mechanical components.
Desirable Qualifications
  • NSW Class HR Drivers Licence, progressing to NSW Class HC.
  • National Licence to perform High Risk Work for Non-Slewing Mobile Crane (CN), Dogging (DG), Forklift (LF) and Elevating Work Platform (WP).
  • Work Safely at Heights accreditation.
Employment Details
  • Employment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award 2023.
  • Classification up to Technical/Trades Band 2, Level 2, Grade 10. Salary ranges from $1,349.60 to $1,453.46 gross per week, with an Adverse Working Conditions Allowance where applicable.
  • Ordinary hours are Monday to Friday, not exceeding 12 hours per day or 76 hours per fortnight, with meal breaks as specified in the Award.
