Role Summary:

The General Liability Underwriter is responsible for assessing and evaluating new liability risks within the parameters of delegated binding agreements or open market considerations.

This role involves analysing insurance submissions, underwriting the risk, setting terms and conditions, and ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines and regulations. The General Liability Underwriter works closely with brokers to gather necessary information and make informed decisions before releasing terms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and assess General Liability insurance submissions, ensuring proper evaluation of risks in accordance with company underwriting guidelines.
  • Determine appropriate terms, conditions, exclusions, endorsements, excesses, subjectivities, and premiums based on risk evaluation and exposure analysis.
  • Analyse business operations, loss histories, and claims data to assess risk exposure and pricing.
  • Ensure all underwriting activities are in line with company policies, regulatory standards, and industry practices.
  • Maintain accurate and organised records of underwriting decisions, exposure analysis, and related documentation.
Industry Engagement
  • Work closely with brokers to gather additional information necessary for underwriting decisions and maintain effective communication.
  • Develop and nurture professional relationships with brokers through marketing visits, presentations, and education to ensure mutual success.
  • Attend industry events and company functions to stay engaged with brokers and underwriting partners, enhancing company visibility.
  • Stay updated on current industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks that may influence underwriting decisions and risk appetite.
About You

Ideally, you will have experience underwriting Liability for an MGA with a strong track record of delivering results.

The right person for this position will have strong analytical skills and great attention to detail, with an understanding of operating with delegated binding authority and open market placements into Lloyds.
