What you'll do

The primary purpose of this role is to lead and manage government projects, ensuring that assigned project work is delivered on time and to high-quality standards. You will execute a wide range of tasks including managing stakeholders, producing regular reports, coordinating resources, tracking progress and performance, and other tasks necessary for project completion. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. You will report to the Implementation & Integration Manager to ensure contractual deliverables are met, delivered on time, and to specifications.

The day-to-day
  • Produce and manage delivery plans and associated budgets.
  • Manage project documentation such as regular reports on resource allocation, utilization, project budgets (actual vs. forecast), project status, and risks.
  • Provide customer-focused status reporting to keep clients informed on delivery progress.
  • Work with Business Managers and Directors to negotiate desired business outcomes.
  • Manage suppliers and contractors to ensure timely and quality delivery.
  • Execute project-related activities as required by your Manager.
  • Manage stakeholder engagement effectively.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Conduct problem-solving analyses to resolve project issues.
  • Apply advanced time management and analytical skills.
  • Adhere to Viasat's WHS responsibilities and policies as per the Safety Management System.
What you'll need
  • A strong educational background, preferably in computer science or engineering.
  • Experience in delivering projects using PMBoK or PRINCE2 methodologies.
  • Experience in budget forecasting and management.
  • Experience in project scheduling.
  • Experience creating Project Management Plans for bids and tenders.
  • Procurement and supply chain experience.
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Office, Excel, Word, Project).
  • Strong presentation and written communication skills.
  • Experience delivering projects for government customers.
  • Ability to travel interstate.
  • Must hold and maintain Australian citizenship and be able to qualify for Australian Defence baseline clearance.
  • Current Australian driver's license and passport.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
What will help you on the job
  • Over 3 years of project management experience, preferably with military/government projects and services.
Government contract driving

This position requires driving a Viasat-owned vehicle under a government contract. Participation in our Drug-Alcohol program, including pre-employment and random testing, is required.
