As a Research Assistant in the Osteoarthritis Research Group, you'll play a crucial role in advancing clinical research on knee and hip osteoarthritis. You'll have the opportunity to work closely with leading experts, contribute to cutting-edge studies, and develop valuable skills in clinical trial management. Your responsibilities will include:- Conduct Clinical Research: Screen and recruit participants, coordinate studies, and collect data for osteoarthritis research projects.
- Manage Research Operations: Oversee project timelines, budgets, and stakeholder engagement to ensure successful study outcomes.
- Contribute to Scientific Output: Assist in preparing research reports, publications, and grant applications to advance the field of osteoarthritis management.
- Promote Engagement and Collaboration: Participate in community and professional activities, contributing to CHESM's engagement initiatives and fostering a collaborative research environment.
You are a dedicated health professional with an undergraduate degree in physiotherapy or a related field, possessing excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic research environment.
You may also:- Have an undergraduate degree in physiotherapy or a relevant health-related discipline.
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrate excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities to manage complex research projects.
- Have proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Show a commitment to maintaining high standards of scientific and ethical integrity.
- Be adaptable and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Your new team - Physiotherapy, School of Health Sciences
The Centre for Health, Exercise and Sports Medicine (CHESM) is a formal University research centre located with the Department of Physiotherapy in the School of Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences. CHESM is a multidisciplinary research Centre established in 2000. It has approximately 35 staff and students from disciplines including physiotherapy, podiatry, exercise science, nutrition, and biostatistics. The Centre has three main research streams: i) Osteoarthritis; ii) Human Movement and Biomechanics; and iii) Musculoskeletal and Sports Medicine. The Centre has expertise in a range of methodologies including clinical trials, qualitative designs, implementation science, and biomechanical experiments. CHESM prides itself on its research quality and achievements with the team publishing approximately 70 papers a year, including in journals such as Lancet, JAMA and Ann Int Med, receiving large grant funding with 4 current MRFF projects and 4 NHMRC Investigator grants, and gaining awards such as the Young Tall Poppy Award.
