Overview

The Deputy Head of Middle School: Students at Redlands College is a pivotal role and a member of the College's Educational Leadership Team. The Deputy Head of Middle School: Students is responsible to the Head of Middle School, for the leadership and management of academic, behavioural and cultural care of the 580 students in the sub-school. The Deputy Head of Middle School: Students will work closely with the Head of Middle School and partner with the Deputy Head of Middle School: Learning to facilitate the effective operational goals of the Middle School, within the mission and vision of the College. The position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the sub-school and is supported in this function by a team of Classroom Teachers, Pastoral Deans, Wellbeing and Enrichment Staff and a Middle School Administrative Assistant.

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and management of academic, behavioural and cultural care for the Middle School (Years 6–9).
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the sub-school in collaboration with the Head of Middle School and the Deputy Head of Middle School: Learning.
  • Work with Classroom Teachers, Pastoral Deans, Wellbeing and Enrichment Staff and a Middle School Administrative Assistant to support sub-school goals.
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive school culture aligned with the College's mission and values.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Applicants must be registered (or eligible to be) with the Queensland College of Teachers.
  • All staff are required to be practising Christians and able to actively express the College's Christian faith.
  • Teaching load: 0.5 FTE.
  • Contract: 3-year leadership cycle within a permanent teaching role; start term 1, 2026.

This role is anticipated to include a period of interview during the week of 22 September and is a permanent teaching staff member with the Deputy role as a position of added responsibility.
