A respected customer of ours is seeking a capable Infrastructure Lead to take the reins of its IT and OT environments.

This position has been created because the General Manager recognises the need to step away from the day-to-day and focus on strategic direction—creating an opportunity for someone with strong technical and leadership capability to step in and make a real impact.

In this role, you'll be responsible for delivering, supporting, and maintaining critical infrastructure services. Your focus will be ensuring these services are highly available, secure, efficient, and reliable—across both traditional IT systems and operational technology environments.

But this isn't just about maintenance. You'll also be deeply involved in shaping the future—contributing to the design and architecture of systems, setting the roadmap, and leading the delivery of technical infrastructure projects across multiple platforms. You'll be the escalation point for high-level system problems, the person others turn to when they need clarity and resolution.

Your work will span everything from networking and infrastructure, to security, governance, and standardisation. You'll act as the bridge between internal business units and external service providers—translating challenges into solutions, ensuring clear communication, and keeping projects and operations moving forward.

You'll lead a small internal IT team currently focused on desktop support and applications. About 80% of your time will be dedicated to keeping the lights on; the remaining 20% will go toward strategic initiatives including improved security, better governance practices, and delivering infrastructure enhancements.

A strong understanding of the complete IT ecosystem is essential. Exposure to manufacturing or similarly industrial environments will give you an edge—especially if you've worked with or around robotics and automation. While you don't need to be an OT specialist, familiarity with the systems, terminology, and architecture that define OT environments is key.

P&L or budget awareness is desirable, and if you've had direct ownership of IT budgets or led infrastructure rollouts—like MFA deployment across Windows 11 environments—you'll be well equipped for what's ahead.

This is a role for someone who wants to lead, influence, and drive improvement. You'll take weight off senior leadership, bring clarity to the technical team, and ensure the business's technology environment is not just running—but growing.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver, support, and maintain secure and reliable IT/OT infrastructure services
• Design and lead infrastructure roadmaps and technical projects across multiple platforms
• Act as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues
• Manage MSP and vendor relationships and ensure seamless communication across business units
• Own and improve security, governance, risk, and change management practices
• Lead a small team and ensure effective day-to-day IT operations
• Translate business requirements into practical, scalable IT solutions

What You'll Bring

• Strong hands-on experience across networking, infrastructure, security, and governance
• Proven ability to manage IT systems within a manufacturing or industrial environment
• Familiarity with OT systems and the intersection of IT/OT architecture
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Budget/P&L awareness or previous ownership preferred
