At Armadale, our Technical Services Directorate plan, build, and maintain the infrastructure that supports our thriving City.
We're looking for an inspirational, pragmatic and experienced leader to oversee the City's asset management, environment and sustainability, engineering design, capital project delivery and operational workforces—guiding them to deliver outcomes which align to our community aspirations.
The scale and variety of work here means no two days are the same, but with a dedicated team you will work together to meet the challenges of our growing community.
How we work at Armadale- A Clear Framework – You will work within the City's Strategic Community Plan, Corporate Business Plan and Business Area Plans, ensuring our services, projects and capabilities align with long-term objectives.
- Governance & Accountability – Reporting to the CEO, you'll provide technical and operational leadership while maintaining good governance, financial oversight and risk management.
- Cross-Functional Leadership – You'll oversee multi-disciplinary teams ensuring they collaborate seamlessly and work cohesively across the organisation and with external stakeholders.
- Stakeholder Collaboration – You will work closely with Elected Members, community and other stakeholders to secure funding, influence policy, and drive positive outcomes for the City and our community.
- Building Leadership Capability – This is a fast-moving, highly productive environment where you will empower your team to develop and implement Operational Excellence in the City's strategies, plans, policies and processes.
- Sustainable Asset Management – Lead the planning, design, construction and maintenance of the City's assets including roads, community facilities, parks and streetscapes, natural areas and Urban Forest.
- Strategic Planning, Good Governance & Financial Oversight – You'll ensure that our projects and service delivery meet good governance, financial and risk management requirements. You will lead the strategic planning of the Technical Services Directorate to achieve integrated and holistic outcomes that deliver community aspirations.
- Proven strategic leadership of large multi-disciplined teams
- The ability to balance strategy and execution—leading high-level planning while ensuring frontline services are delivered efficiently.
- Good governance, superior financial acumen and strategic risk management skills
- Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering (preferred) or related discipline.
The competitive remuneration package consists of a Base Salary of up to $260K (dependent on experience), car with unrestricted private use, superannuation in accordance with Statutory Requirements, Super Matching in line with our Industrial Agreement terms, mobile phone, Armadale Fitness and Aquatic Centre Membership and professional membership in accordance with our procedure.
This position will be offered on a Maximum Term contract of up to 5 years.
