Role & Impact

We are looking for a Data Engineer to own Blinq's data analytics infrastructure. You will create and develop Blinq's data practices to maximise business impact, with strong ownership over data and analytics platforms. You will work closely with Product and Engineering and liaise with technical and non-technical peers to drive change. At this growth stage, you will help ensure our data is scalable and well-maintained.

This is a hybrid role working from our Melbourne or Sydney locations.

• Become the go-to owner of our data and analytics platforms
• Maintain analytics infrastructure and dashboards using a variety of tools
• Help a small product company make data-driven decisions aligned to broader business goals
• Critique data to ensure accuracy
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering to determine where to measure success
• Drive cross-functional data quality, reporting, insights, and remediation to answer business questions
• Design, construct, install, and maintain data processing systems and databases
• Integrate data from diverse sources for consistency and reliability
• Build and maintain efficient data pipelines for ETL into data warehouses or data lakes
• Optimize data processing systems for performance and scalability
• Implement data quality checks and validation processes
• Document data processes, architecture, and workflows

• Strong collaboration and stakeholder-focused mindset
• Excellent communication and ability to evangelize data across the company
• Strong SQL data wrangling skills
• Experience with a data modeling tool like dbt
• Experience in Python or R
• Familiarity with a modern event data stack (Segment, Amplitude, Looker Studio, BigQuery, Google Analytics, AWS/GCP) is desirable
• Clear vision for an industry-leading analytics stack and a plan to build it
• Solid grounding in mathematics and statistics
• Strong visualization and numeric communication skills
• Exposure to data systems supporting machine learning and to database migration/modernisation is desirable
• Experience in A/B testing is highly desirable
