About the Role Canterbury Hospital is committed to providing high quality healthcare services to our local community, focused on patient and family-centred care. The purpose of the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) position is to provide senior nursing clinical leadership in the development of specialist clinical practice and service delivery within a nursing unit, team or service.
The CNS employs advanced clinical skills and exercises extended autonomy of decision-making working closely with managers and other senior clinicians.
The ORP service is designed to bridge the gap between acute fracture care and the long-term management ofosteoporosis. The role of the ORP service is to ensure that all patients aged over 50 years who present with a fragility fracturereceive comprehensive care: systematically identified, assessed, and treated to reduce the risk of a subsequentfracture evaluation and treatment. The CNS 2 will also be required to support general rheumatology services providing patient education and self-managementsupport especially for those patients requiring advanced rheumatological therapies including biologics.   • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse with relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 3 years' experience working in the clinical area of their specified post-graduate qualification, or such other qualifications or equivalent experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise and problem solve to manage the complex clinical care needs of patients through the development and use of clinical management plans.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills with advanced interpersonal and problem solving skills.
