About The Role

The role of the Aboriginal Family Preservation and Reunification Response Practitioners is to provide innovative, intensive wrap-around outreach family support service to children or young people and to engage and support their families and the children themselves via creative strengths-based evidence-informed intervention strategies.

Responsibilities
  • Provide innovative, intensive wrap-around outreach family support to children/young people and their families.
  • Engage and support children, young people and families using strengths-based, evidence-informed interventions.
About You / Qualifications
  • Commitment to VACCA's vision and purpose.
  • Awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures; understanding issues affecting Aboriginal people in contemporary Australia and diversity of circumstances.
  • Ability to work in a culturally respectful and competent manner with Aboriginal young people, their families and communities to foster cultural connections.
  • Work experience in a relevant field that supports understanding of child development and family functioning, including theories of attachment, intergenerational and personal trauma, and relevant risk assessment frameworks and interventions for vulnerable families.
Requirements
  • A tertiary qualification in Community Service, Social Work, Psychology, welfare or related discipline is desirable.
  • Full Victorian Driver's Licence, current Working With Children Check, and a clear National Police Check.
  • Current COVID-19 vaccination (including booster dose, as applicable).
