ChampionX has an immediate need for an experienced Offshore Chemist located in Perth, Australia. This role requires providing onsite technical assistance, chemical management, sample analysis, monitoring, and reporting programs. What You Will Do:

  1. Sampling and analysis of oil, gas, and other critical systems as laid out in the offshore analysis plan as per agreed procedures.
  2. Provide technical support and information to Mariner onshore and offshore operations team during normal operations.
  3. Production of daily logs as per the operator system and production of written and verbal handovers to ensure continuation of work.
  4. Production of technical reports and reporting to the client in a timely manner.
  5. Day-to-day management of chemical use and stock levels to ensure optimum performance and cost-effectiveness.
  6. Timely ordering of chemicals required to operate the processes to ensure stock levels are maintained.
  7. Logistical management of any temporary chemical injection systems including pumps and skids, ensuring accurate accounts of what equipment is on-board is kept up to date to ensure cost-effectiveness and timely back-load.
  8. Logistical management of all chemicals on-board, ensuring chemicals are transferred to the correct location for use and back-loaded in a timely manner as per client procedures and processes.
  9. Ability to investigate and rectify issues with chemical injection systems according to client procedures.
  10. Ability to create maintenance requests as per client maintenance reporting system.
  11. Day-to-day management and ordering of laboratory consumable stock levels and equipment.
  12. Re-calibration and re-certification of all laboratory equipment.
  13. Completion of any training as directed by the client to expand on competency.
  14. Completion of any training of platform personnel to ensure adequate cover for all sampling. Lab technician shall keep up-to-date records of trained personnel.
  15. Demonstration of personal commitment to health, safety, and the environment, showing active participation and support in all necessary operations meetings and new initiatives and improvements.
  16. Compliance with the client's culture and operating procedures, including toolbox talks and risk assessments.
  17. Carry out emergency response duties in accordance with the client's requirements.
  18. Evaluation of process separation problems and recommendations for improvement.

Safety Responsibilities:

  1. Adhere to company safety policies, procedures, and rules and follow safe work practices.
  2. Participate in team consultation meetings to discuss workplace safety in the department.
  3. Report any hazards as soon as you notice them and participate in risk assessments as requested. Assist in the identification of control measures to eliminate or minimize the risk of injury.
  4. Wear personal protective equipment as required for various tasks and report any worn-out or defective equipment.
  5. Participate in OHS activities such as inspections, investigations, and OHS meetings as required from time to time.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. A Tertiary qualification in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Science, or related Discipline.
  2. Solid experience in servicing a technical product in the oil, gas, and utility chemical market.
  3. A strong safety focus and able to work in a multinational, multidisciplinary team yet be self-motivated and a self-starter.
  4. Business acumen and technical skills that will allow you to provide value to your customers.
  5. Excellent interpersonal skills and an accomplished communicator.
  6. Personal drive and tenacity for sales growth, quality improvement, and customer satisfaction.
  7. Excellent computer skills.
