Description

Join a dedicated and innovative pharmacy team in a supportive teaching hospital environment. Full time role (80 hours per fortnight) with access to ADO's, 5 weeks annual leave and salary packaging.

About The Facility

Major sites include University Hospital Geelong, McKellar Centre, Barwon Health North, and residential aged care facilities. Comprehensive mental health, community health and dental services are delivered through programs across the Barwon South West Region. The Pharmacy Department has 120 EFT staff across sites, providing clinical pharmacy services, aseptic and oncology preparation, HITH and outpatient services. It includes specialisations in clinical pharmacy, clinical trials, medication safety, medicines information, antimicrobial stewardship and radiopharmacy, with a growing @home program. The department supports education for undergraduates and postgraduates and offers the SHPA residency program.

Pharmacy practice is innovative, with electronic discharge prescribing, a robotic dispensing and inventory system, and a dedicated Beth Allerton Family Oncology Pharmacy facility for chemotherapy preparation, clinical trials, outpatient dispensing and patient counselling within the Cancer Centre.

About The Role

Undertake and develop your skill set within the outpatients dispensary and operational pharmacy areas within Barwon Health.

Responsibilities

• Ensure appropriate drug utilization through implementation of hospital policy and formulary guidelines/restrictions, and liaison with medical and nursing staff.
• Participate in the intern and student programs.
• Initiate and participate in pharmacy research projects and present at professional conferences, where appropriate.
• Assist team members in delivering an operational pharmacy service to patients, hospital wards, clinics and departments within Barwon Health
• Ensure all work is completed accurately on time and in accordance with Barwon Health policies and procedures
