Kensington and Norwood, South Australia Government of South Australia Full time

Department for Education
Job reference: 649081
Location: 5070 - FELIXSTOW
Job status: Ongoing
Eligibility: Open to Everyone

Why work with us:

Every child and young person deserves a great education. We have a strategy that aims to unlock every child's potential now and into the future, one that in partnership with learners, students, parents, and the wider South Australian community will build a world-leading public education system. One that is equitable and prioritises learning and wellbeing. Together we will make our education system the best it can be. When our children and young people thrive, so do our communities and our state.

About the Role:

Children's Centres for Early childhood Development and Parenting provide a statewide network of integrated health, family support, education, and care services hubs to families with young children with a focus on the first 1000 days of life. This initiative plays a key approach in enhancing early childhood development outcomes. The Children's Centre Occupational Therapy and Speech Pathology program, delivered through Student Support Services, provides both universal and targeted support to families with young children to promote children's development, responsive caregiving, and ameliorate developmental difficulties and reduce impacts of disadvantage. This is achieved through collaborating with families and children's centre's colleagues to provide a broad range of professional, direct, and indirect services at the individual, group, and whole site level.

As a key member of the interdisciplinary team, the Senior Occupational Therapist contributes to clinical governance, provides supervision, and offers professional support and development to Occupational Therapists working in Children's Centres and Student Support Services across the state. The Senior Occupational Therapist works closely with the AHP2 Occupational Therapists, Children's Centres Leaders, and the Senior Speech Pathologist to ensure the delivery of quality high-quality integrated services to support family functioning and improve child development.

The Senior Occupational Therapist is responsible for professional practice and service delivery standards specific to occupational therapy in Children's Centres, providing discipline-specific knowledge for the implementation, development, and evaluation of occupational therapy services within Children's Centres.

Reporting to Statewide Services Operations Manager, the position is supervised by the Principal Occupational Therapist. The Senior Occupational Therapist will connect with other Occupational Therapists routinely and build relationships to support their professional growth and service delivery.
