  You'll be part of Simple Credit Software (Mobile) Engineering Chapter, a centre of excellence within the Retail Banking Digital space and play an integral part in the purpose and success of CommBank. We are responsible for delivering an exceptional customer experience across all digital touch points. This chapter is responsible for building sophisticated credit card products that differentiate CBA in a market overburdened by replicas. Your skills in full stack development will help CBA deliver intuitive, best-practice designs, and enable you to work closely with our architects and vendors to securely integrate with downstream systems.
  
  As a Staff Engineer, you'll be responsible for leading, promoting continuous improvement, developing technical roadmaps, and improving the quality of technical solutions by implementing industry best practises. You'll also work closely with other technical leaders and product owners to document new changes and drive various initiatives. It will be key that you are able communicate well with the rest of the squad members, provide technical guidance and mentoring to the engineers in the team, while being exposed to some interesting challenges. Also, you'll be involved in all aspects of the delivery from solution design and development to production rollout.

  • Are constantly thinking outside the box and breaking boundaries to solve complex technical problems.

  • Understands how to drive to an outcome – how to get stuff shipped, tested, and well considered.
  • Are enthusiastic about leading and championing strategic practice development.
  • Works well in teams and have strong collaboration skills in driving continuous improvement initiatives.
    
    
  Tech Skills:
  
  We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don't expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these will set you up for success in this team:
  • Strong hands-on experience with Android, Kotlin, Coroutines
  • Familiarity with Java, Jetpack Compose, MAD (Modern Android Development), ANR, Accessibility, memory management, performance optimisation
  • Advanced experience in software design and architecture principles in mobile
  • Developing testable and observable systems – TDD, Unit test, UI test and snapshot test
  • Monitoring app health, crashes, and logs - AppD, AppCenter or AppDynamic, Splunk
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipeline - Teamcity, GitHub, GitHub Actions
  • Knowledge of public cloud along with various back-end APIs and systems
  • Any experience with the following would be great - AI/ML, Agentic AI, Banking domain
