The position of Commissioning Manager will be part of the growing Site Management & Commissioning team and report to the Senior Manager of Site Management & Commissioning. The Commissioning Manager is responsible for the commissioning of the project, which starts from the planning phase and carries on until the handover of the project. The applicant should have a solid understanding of fundamental electrical engineering, project management, and construction principles, as well as experience in high power electrical systems. In this position, you will work closely with the project team during the planning phase including the Project Manager, System Engineer, Solution Engineer, and other stakeholders. At site, you will have the technical responsibility for the execution, commissioning schedule, and commissioning resources. During site execution, you will report to the Site Manager who will facilitate the administration at site.

Reporting and Work Location:

· This position shall report to the Senior Manager of Site Management & Commissioning

· Location: Australia remote based with time spent on site during commissioning phases

· Job requires intensive travelling and the ability to stay at site during site execution for extended periods.

Your main responsibilities are:

  1. Lead commissioning team at site or remotely
  2. Collaborate with the relevant team in the preparation and coordination of projects technical materials
  3. Prepare and finalize the Commissioning Plan.
  4. Collaborate with stakeholders to define and execute testing protocols to achieve commercial operation, based on market rules, local utility requirements, and contracts.
  5. Communicate commissioning plan and performance test procedures and activities with the client.
  6. Prepare and maintain commissioning time schedule.
  7. Organize start-up and tests of equipment within the scope of the contract.
  8. Ensure that commissioning plan and performance tests procedures are followed.
  9. Safeguard the compliance with EHS policies and minimize risks during commissioning.
  10. Ensure that safe commissioning practices are followed.
  11. Ensure that all test results are documented according to Wärtsilä instructions.
  12. Manage integration of project quality documentation to commissioning procedures.
  13. Maintain good reporting practices.
  14. Ensure that safe and calibrated test equipment are used.
  15. Ensure that all required documents are submitted and signed by the client for taking over of the plant.
  16. Compile commissioning documents for submittal to the client.
  17. Ensure safe and reliable function of the plant and equipment.
  18. Ownership of administrative responsibilities including, but not limited to commissioning reports, issue logging/tracking, job safety analysis, quality compliance.
  19. Drive continuous improvement on developing and capturing technical problem-solving knowledge to enable other organizations to effectively resolve customer problems and inquiries.

Minimum Skills Requirements:

  1. Education: Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent work experience
  2. 5 years' experience with renewable energy: Energy Storage System and/or Solar Utility Scale, Power Systems, Transmission, Communication Network, and related Software.

Additional Job Requirements:

  1. Familiar with lithium-ion battery
  2. Familiar with relevant codes and standards for ESS and inverters (NEC, IBC, IFC, NFPA, UL, IEC)
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate highly complex engineering, construction and operational issues
  4. Experience and understanding in CAD drawing
  5. Ability to execute many projects and tasks in parallel, self-directed, highly detail-oriented, organized and flexible
  6. Experience with utility scale energy storage and renewable energy projects and products
  7. Understanding of utility generation project engineering, construction, and commissioning practices.
  8. Applicant should be able to read and understand drawings of electrical controls for industrial automation, switchgear control and protection, medium voltage equipment and networks schematics.
  9. Knowledge of multimeters, oscilloscopes power quality analysis, harmonics and their operation.
  10. Understanding and experience of programmable logic controllers (PLC) and industrial electronic equipment (protection relays, inverters, BMS, etc.).
  11. Experience with industrial control methods, switching processes and SCADA systems.
