Unaccredited Surgical Registrar role at Bairnsdale Regional Health Service (BRHS). Located in Lakes Entrance, Victoria, Australia, BRHS is the largest healthcare provider in East Gippsland and offers a broad spectrum of care across Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Sub-Acute or Rehabilitation Medicine, and Surgery, supported by Pharmacy, Medical Imaging and Pathology services.
As one of three Surgical Registrars, you will gain significant skills and experience in a rural setting, delivering high-quality, locally appropriate medical care under the supervision of Consultant General Surgeons.
Responsibilities- Operate as part of the Surgical team, with duties including theatre work, surgical inpatient management, pre-admissions and outpatient consultations.
- Assist in the Perioperative Suite, including two operating theatres, recovery room, pre-admission clinic and day procedure unit.
- Collaborate with local and visiting specialists in general surgery, orthopaedics, gynaecology, urology, ophthalmology, endoscopy and dental.
- Contribute to a leadership role mentoring Surgical Interns and Hospital Medical Officers.
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (or equivalent).
- General Registration or eligible for Provisional Registration.
- Minimum AHPRA level 3 supervision for International Medical Graduates.
- If international candidate, Registration with the Medical Board of Australia prior to commencement.
- Minimum 3 years of postgraduate experience in clinical medicine, including at least 12 months surgical experience/surgical HMO year in Australia or equivalent overseas.
- AMC Parts 1 & 2 passed (if applicable – Standard pathway).
- Competence in advanced life support techniques.
