The SEC is building an enterprising and dynamic team to accelerate Victoria's transition to renewables and help achieve Victoria's renewable energy target of 95% by 2035. We are working together for renewable, affordable, reliable energy for all Victorians.

Your role
As Head of Corporate Operations at the SEC, you will be responsible for providing key executive support to the Chief Financial Officer, leading sustainability reporting and compliance, accommodation, facilities management and general corporate operations across the business.

This role can be based in either our Melbourne CBD office or our regional office located in Morwell.

What you will do:
  • Lead a small team to ensure smooth corporate operations across SEC's metropolitan and regional sites, including facilities management, travel, security, postal/courier services, stationery, fleet contracts, and accommodation strategy.
  • Maintain day-to-day operational efficiency while ensuring financial, regulatory, and statutory reporting compliance, and oversee implementation of OHS policies in collaboration with Risk & Compliance and P&C teams.
  • Provide high-level executive support to the CFO as required.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to identify material sustainability issues, set goals/targets (e.g. social procurement, local jobs, diversity), and ensure alignment with SEC's objectives.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with external sustainability reporting obligations, including AASB sustainability standards, and apply relevant best practice guidelines for SEC's operations and business environment.
  • Oversee collection, analysis, and verification of sustainability data; present insights clearly and consistently; and recommend process improvements for effective data collection and reporting.
Who you are:
Must Haves
  • Tertiary (Bachelor's) qualification in a relevant stream.
  • Demonstrated experience in a senior leadership role (Senior Manager, Head of, General Manager, or similar) within a fast-paced/high-growth environment in the public or private sector (energy industry highly regarded).
  • Significant experience leading geographically dispersed teams across corporate operations, facilities, and similar portfolios.
  • Demonstrated project management capabilities with the ability to juggle multiple priorities, stakeholders, and projects.
  • Proven ability to influence internal and external stakeholders and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organisation to deliver key operational priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to contribute to board papers and produce clear reports, policies, and submissions.
  • Ability to think strategically and execute practical solutions.
  • Willingness to travel to different sites as often as required.
Highly Desirable
  • Understanding of Government (preferably Victorian Government) compliance, procurement, information management, and relevant frameworks.
  • Ability to thrive in a small, cross-functional team environment to deliver results.
Our empowered workforce
A career with us means you'll be joining a new and vibrant 'for purpose' government-owned renewable energy company that:
  • Empowers you to influence how we accelerate Victoria's renewable energy transition and decarbonise our economy.
  • Inspires you through meaningful, challenging work in an environment that encourages leadership and an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Supports your growth through career advancement and professional development opportunities.
  • Provides hybrid work arrangements, with around 3 days working in Melbourne or Morwell, with flexible work options to meet individual circumstances, providing greater choice and autonomy.
About us
We have an exciting and ambitious road ahead with a focus on:
  • Investing in renewable energy and storage projects that accelerate the transition and deliver commercial returns.
  • Supporting households to go all electric to reduce their emissions and energy bills.
  • Building the renewable energy workforce our energy transition requires.
The organisation is partnering with industry to transform the energy sector, opening the state up for further innovation and investments in renewables. This includes an initial $1 billion towards delivering 4.5 gigawatts of power through renewable energy and storage projects - the equivalent replacement capacity of coal-fired power station Loy Yang A, which is set to close in 2035.

The SEC will also play an important role in helping Victorian households to reduce their energy bills and emissions by offering simple and effective solutions to help them switch to electric.

The energy transformation will create thousands of jobs. The SEC will play a role in attracting and training our future renewable energy workforce.
