26 Degrees is a specialist multi-asset prime broker based in Sydney, Cyprus, London and Tokyo. The company specialises in providing prime services to brokers, hedge funds, asset managers, proprietary trading firms and professional traders. Key duties and responsibilities
  • Provide pragmatic and specialist legal advice in the context of financial services on both immediate issues as well as upcoming legal and regulatory changes.
  • Review and negotiate a range of legal and commercial agreements requiring strong skills in contract review and legal analysis.
  • Ensure the organisation's fulfillment of legal and regulatory obligations through monitoring, review and development of internal procedures and controls.
  • Ensure consistency of the compliance model and policies within the global framework of the organisation.
  • Fulfill regulatory reporting and investigative requirements, aid internal and external auditors, produce compliance reports to management and communicate with regulatory authorities as necessary.
  • Assist in the coordination and provision of new and on-going staff training.
  • Provide cross-border legal and compliance support to the other teams in our global offices.

About you
  • Minimum 5 years PQE as an Australian legal practitioner.
  • In depth knowledge of Australian financial services laws and regulations, together with awareness of overseas regulations as may apply to cross border business activities within APAC and EU.
  • Strong working knowledge and understanding of leveraged financial products is highly regarded.
  • Excellent attention to detail with demonstrated analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to concisely communicate complex legal issues in both verbal and written reports.
  • Driven and organised with the ability to work autonomously and within a team.
