Overview

Laverty Pathology is part of Healius. We provide pathology services across metropolitan, regional and remote Australia, delivering care to private and public hospitals and communities. This role is to work as a Hospital Pathology Collector (Phlebotomist) within our network of pathology collectors.

What You Will Be Doing

As a Hospital Pathology Collector (Phlebotomist), you will report to the Hospital Collector Lead and work in a team across wards including Paediatrics, Medical, ICU, CCU, Emergency, Oncology, Special Care Nursery, Maternity and Rehabilitation. You will use empathy and strong communication to deliver great customer service and quality healthcare, liaising with doctors, nurses and patients to understand needs.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include
  • Liaising and building effective relationships with doctors, nurses and patients within the hospital.
  • Advanced pathology collection – collecting samples (blood and non-blood) across wards and areas including Paediatrics, difficult bleeds and AGBs with care and attention.
  • Keeping meticulous records for every patient and sample.
What Type Of Person Will Be Successful

To be successful, you are an experienced Pathology Collector who could be currently in a hospital or clinic setting and looking to diversify and grow. You may be a Registered Nurse seeking daytime shifts. You are a strong communicator, professional and proactive in stakeholder engagement, and you go above and beyond to provide quality patient care.

Attributes & Skills
  • Experience and knowledge in Phlebotomy, ideally with a Certificate III in Pathology Collection, or a nursing background.
  • Excellent liaison and communication skills with a patient-centred approach.
  • Organised with high attention to detail.
  • Working with Children's Check or willingness to obtain one.
  • Australian citizenship, permanent residency, NZ citizenship, or valid visa with work permission.
Vaccination Requirements
  • Vaccine-preventable disease evidence such as Hepatitis B is a requirement of this role.
  • Other vaccinations based on location may be required.
