About Us

Charles Parsons Group is a privately owned family business established in 1915. This role is responsible for supporting the shareholders of the trading entity as part of the Parsons Family Office.

About the role

We currently have an exciting office based opportunity for an experienced Family company accountant to join our small Family office team based close to Central station in a permanent full time capacity. Reporting to the Family Office Manager, we are seeking a highly capable and detailed oriented individual who will bring a dynamic, versatile approach to their work, fostering a positive and productive work environment.

The Family Company Accountant is a hands on role involved in all aspects of the finance, accounting and administration across a diverse portfolio of investments . This role offers a unique opportunity to be in a trusted position within a family office where discretion, reliability and financial acumen are paramount.

Key Tasks will include:

• Preparation of the company accounts and all compliance work including the Statutory Accounts, BAS, and FBT
• Cash flow reporting, Invoicing and processing of all payments
• Investment reporting and support
• Property Management, reconciliations and working with property managers
• General Office Support and administration as required.

To be considered for the position you must have the following skills:

• Tertiary qualification with a minimum of 7 years previous accounting experience, ideally within a small business or family office environment.
• CPA/CA qualification or working towards is desirable but not essential
• Experience in managing the requirements of external audit
• Strong IT skills and Proficiency with Microsoft Office software - Excel, Word, Outlook
• Quick Learner with Accounting Software (MYOB experience is desirable)
• Organised, detail-orientated and great at juggling priorities
• Excellent communication skills – confident working with people at all levels
• Unwavering commitment to confidentiality and discretion
• Ability to work as a member of a small team and at times independently, exercising sound judgement and initiative
