About the Opportunity

We are recruiting a psychologist to join our NHMHD Psychology Registrar Program, which offers:

  • A two-year rotational program within NHMHD with opportunities to work across at least two different clinical services (community, inpatient, and rehabilitation).
  • A structured program of education delivered by a skilled and experienced psychology education team.
  • Individual supervision provided by a Senior Clinical Psychologist and Board-approved supervisor.
  • Group supervision with other Early Career psychologists facilitated by a Board-approved supervisor.
  • Being a part of a multidisciplinary team embedded in a clinical practice environment.
  • Professional development/study leave, and in the first year, reduced clinical workload with a dedicated 4-hours per week of reflective practice.
  • The opportunity to deliver psychological interventions and assessments for a range of mental health conditions.
  • Learning opportunities to increase your clinical psychology knowledge and skills.
  • Possibility of ongoing permanent employment upon successful completion of the program.

Full-time, fixed-term position based in our community, residential rehabilitation, and inpatient programs located in Broadmeadows, Coburg, Epping, Mill Park, Bundoora, and Preston.

To be successful in the role you will have the ability to:

  • Deliver evidenced-based assessments and psychological interventions to consumers presenting with a broad range of high- and low-prevalence disorders, including risk of harm to self and others.
  • Work effectively with consumers, their family members/supports, and external service providers.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.

What you will need:

  • Full registration as a psychologist with the PBA (obtained by the start date of the program).
  • A Masters or Doctoral level qualification in Clinical Psychology or Neuropsychology, approved by the PBA.
  • Interest in working within public mental health.
  • To comply with PBA code of ethics and legal requirements of the profession.
  • Knowledge and some experience in at least one psychological treatment modality, for example, CBT, ACT, DBT.
  • To be a team player who is eager to learn from and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with consumers experiencing mental illness and their family members/supports.
  • A current Victorian Driver's License, and ongoing ability to use this form of transport.
