Senior Analyst

Your new company

Our client, a national electricity provider, is looking for a Senior Analyst to join their team on a 12-month contract. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, possess strong data visualisation skills, and exhibit advanced proficiency in systems, spreadsheets, and financial modelling.

Your new role

• Responsible for monthly management accounts, reforecasts, and financial performance analysis for executives, the board, and stakeholders.
• Supports the preparation and review of the annual budget and business plan, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow forecasting.
• Builds strong relationships with internal teams such as Commercial Managers, Treasury, and Corporate Finance to align forecasts and provide strategic insights.
• Drives continuous improvement and automation in financial reporting processes to enhance accuracy, timeliness, and insight generation.
• Maintains and reviews the corporate overhead cost allocation methodology in line with AER and ring-fencing requirements, and supports regulatory reporting.
• Assists in reviewing outputs and mentoring Group FP&A Analysts to ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Provides ad hoc financial analysis to support decision-making and business growth initiatives.
• Contributes to business strategies, policy development, financial training programes, and implementation of process improvements across the organisation.
• Promotes a strong health, safety, and environmental culture, leads HSE discussions, and ensures compliance with relevant standards and procedures.
• Based in Ultimo, Sydney, reporting to the Manager – Group FP&A, with no direct reports and classified under the Contract Officer remuneration level.

What you'll need to succeed

• Holds tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline, with membership in CPA Australia, the Institute of Chartered Accountants, or a similar professional body.
• Demonstrates strong experience in financial analysis and management accounting, with a proven ability to deliver insights and support decision-making.
• Proficient in finance systems and reporting tools, with experience in Oracle EPM considered advantageous.
• Skilled in driving process improvements and initiating new projects independently, with a proactive and self-motivated approach.
• Communicates and presents effectively, with the ability to influence stakeholders and build strong, customer-focused relationships.
• Comfortable working in environments with a degree of ambiguity, showing adaptability and sound judgement.
• Must be available to start immediately or at short notice.
• An understanding of infrastructure assets and the regulatory environment for electricity transmission providers is desirable but not essential.
