Overview

Join Westpac's Model Risk team as a Manager – Enterprise models. This permanent, full-time role is based in Sydney (preferred), with flexibility for candidates in Melbourne and hybrid working arrangements.

Responsibilities
  • Lead independent validation of Group-wide models across capital, liquidity, conduct, and financial crime risks
  • Work with senior stakeholders to uplift model risk practices and governance across the bank
What I need / Qualifications
  • Significant experience in model validation or development, ideally across multiple risk classes including capital, liquidity, and financial crime
  • Strong programming skills (e.g. SAS, SQL, R, Python) and the ability to interpret regulatory standards, financial statements, and Pillar III reports
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex concepts and influence non-technical and senior stakeholders
  • Proven ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver high-quality outcomes with minimal supervision
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with a collaborative and constructive approach to challenge
  • Experience mentoring junior team members and contributing to the uplift of model risk practices, including interest in AI model validation
Location & Working Arrangements

Sydney-based preferred, with flexibility to consider candidates in Melbourne; flexible hybrid working arrangements available.
