Sales Representative/marketing

We are looking for a proactive, creative, and people-focused Marketing Executive / Sales Assistant to join Martine Gallery. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a creative, design-led environment, enjoys building relationships, and has an eye for aesthetics. You will work closely with Martine, the gallery director, to manage sales, deliver marketing campaigns, and enhance the gallery's presence online and offline. This is a hybrid role that combines art sales, marketing strategy, and visual storytelling—ideal for someone who loves art, interiors, and community building.

Martine Gallery is a well-established art gallery founded in 2015 by Martine Vanderspuy. Located in a design-focused community, the gallery showcases over 40 leading Australian artists. Our mission is to make exceptional art accessible and personal, with a focus on creating an experience, not just a sale. We also offer tailored interior design advice to help clients choose artwork for their spaces.

• Sales & Client Experience
  • Use tools like Square and Art Galleria to process sales and manage invoices.
  • Maintain accurate records of art sales, stock updates, and client details.
  • Deliver exceptional client service—assist clients in selecting art pieces that suit their spaces, working alongside Martine for interior styling advice.
  • Build relationships with collectors, designers, and new clients.
• Gallery Administration
  • Update the gallery website using WordPress, including marking pieces as sold and uploading new works.
  • Manage art archiving, including labeling and safe storage of artworks.
  • Assist with unpacking, handling, and styling new stock for display.
• Marketing & Social Media
  • Create visually engaging content for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Google ads and LinkedIn—including photography of new artworks and styling shots.
  • Curate a cohesive, aesthetic social media grid that reflects the gallery's brand and attracts followers.
  • Schedule consistent content across platforms, including video snippets, shareable quotes, and behind-the-scenes stories.
  • Brainstorm and execute marketing campaigns, e-newsletters (via Mailchimp), and community-building initiatives.
  • Propose and support gallery events and exhibitions to drive engagement and sales.

• Experience & Skills
  • Minimum 4 years in marketing, sales, or gallery/creative industry experience.
  • Proven experience in social media management and content creation.
  • Strong sales and interpersonal skills—confident in guiding clients and closing deals.
  • Familiarity with WordPress, Mailchimp, and social media scheduling tools.
  • Knowledge of or passion for interior design and art styling is highly desirable.
