At the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board (WSLCB), our mission is to promote public safety, public health, and trust through fair administration, education, and enforcement of liquor, cannabis, tobacco, and vapor laws. As a Law Enforcement Officer 2, you will play a vital role in ensuring the integrity of our state's liquor, tobacco, and cannabis laws and regulations.
About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Law Enforcement Officer 2 in one of our regional offices. As a member of our Enforcement and Education Division, you will be responsible for enforcing state liquor, tobacco, and cannabis laws and regulations through citations, arrests, and administrative actions. You will work closely with licensees, communities, and local law enforcement agencies to promote public safety and prevent underage sales.
Duties and Responsibilities- Conduct inspections of licensed liquor, tobacco, and cannabis establishments to check for compliance with state laws and regulations.
- Investigate complaints and take appropriate enforcement action.
- Work with federal agencies on contraband/counterfeit cigarette cases.
- Schedule and conduct random and targeted liquor, tobacco, and cannabis compliance checks.
- Issue administrative or criminal enforcement actions.
- Complete comprehensive reports and evidence preservation utilizing chain of custody methods.
- Handle and account for investigative funds.
- Provide education and training to retail licensees and their employees regarding responsible liquor, tobacco, and cannabis sales.
- Attend meetings and committee assignments.
- Possess a high school diploma or GED.
- Must be 20 1/2 years old or older at time of application.
- Must be a Washington State resident and possess a valid Washington State Driver's License upon appointment.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or a Lawful Permanent Resident of the United States of America.
- Ability to write clearly and succinctly.
- Ability to orally communicate effectively on a one-on-one basis and in a group setting.
- Successfully complete 720 hours of basic law enforcement training from certified academy.
- Successfully complete the on-the-job training per the Field Training Officer guide.
This position requires working in a fast-paced environment, interacting with the public, and being able to handle stressful situations. You must be willing to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. You may also be required to wear protective gear and use specialized equipment.
