You will supervise day to day operations but also support the team during high volume periods.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and manage the accounts payable team, including assigning tasks, setting priorities, and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Provide training and support to team members to enhance their skills and ensure high performance.
  • Oversee the processing of invoices, ensuring timely and accurate payments in accordance with company policies.
  • Review and approve high-value or complex transactions and resolve any discrepancies or issues.
  • Assist in the month-end and year-end processing including the preparation of relevant general journals and assist in the preparation of General ledger reconciliations.
  • Maintain strong relationships with vendors and address any payment or account issues promptly.
  • Negotiate payment terms and resolve disputes to ensure smooth operations and compliance.
  • Prepare and review accounts payable reports, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
  • Reconcile accounts payable records with general ledger entries and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounts payable operations.
  • Develop and update procedures to ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, financial regulations, and company policies.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with procurement and payment procedures to minimize financial risk.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement, property and finance, to streamline processes and resolve issues.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure clear understanding and resolution of issues.
  • Coordinate credit card applications and reconciliations

About you?
  • Tertiary qualification in accounting, business, commerce or a related field and, or demonstrated experience
  • Extensive experience in accounts payable, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of accounts payable processes, accounting principles, and financial controls.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems.
