The RoleAs the Senior Gardener – Handyperson, you will work to provide gardening, grounds and facility management to ensure a safe and clean school environment. You will maintain and present the school grounds and gardens in an attractive, clean and tidy condition, and provide a suitable growing environment for both soft and hard landscaping, including turf management. The successful applicant will perform minor repairs and maintenance as requested, as well as other Gardener – Handyperson duties in accordance with the Department's policies and guidelines.
ResponsibilitiesThe successful applicant will ideally have good interpersonal and communication skills to maintain accurate gardening records and manage staff performance. You should have strong leadership skills to supervise tasks performed by the Assistant Gardener and provide advice and support to the Manager Corporate Services on school grounds maintenance. In this role, you will ideally have a passion for the outdoors and an ability to lead staff as you work with team members to create and maintain a clean, tidy, safe, and enjoyable outdoor environment for staff, students, and the community.
Eligibility and requirementsEligibility
- obtain a valid Working With Children Check.
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
- be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.

- Demonstrated experience in coordinating and supervising staff.
