Overview

Part-time min. 20 hours a week - ECC Veterinary Nurse – Veterinary Referral Hospital, Dandenong VIC. Are you an experienced general practice nurse looking to branch out into referral, or have emergency experience and want a new challenge? VRH is seeking an enthusiastic part-time nurse to join the Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) team. This role requires availability for a variety of shifts across a 24-hour roster; the ECC department is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year including public holidays. Preference is for applicants who can work Swing or out-of-hours shifts.

You will work closely with a team of ECC nurses and veterinarians – including specialists in Emergency & Critical Care – in a varied and rewarding environment where you can learn and grow your skills with ongoing support from the ECC leadership team.

Responsibilities
  • Provide ICU and hospital nursing, support roles, triage and patient stabilization as part of the ECC team.
  • Collaborate with veterinarians and specialists to deliver high-quality care and participate in hospital rounds each morning.
  • Be adaptable to a rotating roster and contribute to a dynamic, sometimes unpredictable workload.
  • Work in roles best suited to your capabilities, with opportunities for additional training and guidance as you learn the ropes.
  • Maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude and support other team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Qualifications
  • Qualified Veterinary Nurse with minimum Certificate IV or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of experience in the veterinary industry as a nurse.
  • Exceptional organization and communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions while showing initiative.
  • A positive, proactive attitude and ability to adapt to change.
  • Demonstrated skills in anaesthetic setup, monitoring and surgical techniques.
  • Willingness to work a rotating roster including nights and weekends.
  • Experience in emergency and referral hospitals is preferable but not essential.
