An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Maintenance Officer to join our dynamic team at St John's College within the University of Queensland.

St John's College within the University of Queensland is an Anglican residential college with a strong reputation and history built over 110 years. The College is home to over 300 university students and provides a supportive and stimulating living and learning environment that enables each student to pursue optimum academic achievement whilst encouraging life balance through participation in various community, social, cultural, and sporting experiences.

The Maintenance Officer supports the Business Manager with the general maintenance of facilities at St John's College, and the maintenance team with their daily tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure all buildings and open space areas are maintained and operational.
  2. Prioritise maintenance activities daily, ensuring tasks are undertaken on time and to agreed standards, regularly reporting to the Facilities Manager.
  3. Monitor and follow up all maintenance requests submitted via the College's Maintenance Request Forms.
  4. Maintain and develop the grounds and gardens.
  5. Maintain utility services including water, gas, electricity, sewerage, drainage, and rubbish removal.
  6. Coordinate, oversee and monitor the work of external contractors, following through to completion of each work order.
  7. Set up venues for all College assemblies and staged events as requested by the relevant staff, in accordance with the required time frame.
  8. Move, repair, and replace furniture, when required.
  9. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and contribute to the attainment of team goals and organisational objectives.
  10. Strong client service and work ethic.
  11. General maintenance experience in a Facilities or Accommodation setting.
  12. Thorough understanding of legislative requirements pertaining to maintenance and repairs, workplace health and safety, and essential services.
  13. Professional attitude and understanding of importance of prioritising the range of demands that arise from supporting the College overall.

Please note, this role will require a valid Queensland Blue Card or the ability to acquire one. Candidates must also be willing to undergo a national police check.
